About our school

Something a little bit different…

  • We are a small, two form entry school, with a strong supportive and respectful community. We are the first co-operative primary free school to be approved in the UK.

  • We offer flexible school holidays – families can choose to lengthen either the winter holiday or the spring holiday, or keep the normal longer summer break.

  • Our curriculum is taught ‘thematically’. This means that teachers weave the National Curriculum through topics that capture children’s imagination and interest. We ensure academic excellence because children are enjoying learning.

  • Every term ends with our ‘challenge weeks’, two weeks where children consolidate what they’ve learnt during the term with project-based challenges, building teamwork and leadership skills and gaining experience of being responsible for their own success.

  • Our curriculum is rich in activities that are proven to both contribute to academic achievement and children’s wellbeing – outdoor education and music, the arts and sport. We know it is crucial that children are given a range of ways to learn and develop.

  • Focus on our three key skills: numeracy, literacy and communication. We will ensure every child leaves our school confident in maths, reading, writing and speaking - including a firm foundation in a foreign language from reception.

  • Every child will have their own Individual Learning Plan, drawn up in partnership with their teacher and parents. To us, every child is both an individual and part of a wider family and community. We want to make sure the education they receive in school reflects that.

  • Extended school days – optional activities from 8am until 6pm. Organised by the school, these support children’s interests and complement the main curriculum.

  • We are not faith-based or selective – we welcome all families, celebrating Harrow’s diversity in order to nurture the world citizens of tomorrow.
